Comprehensive Care for Long COVID

Geelong Long COVID Clinic is a dedicated medical clinic focused on the assessment and management of Long COVID. We support people who continue to experience persistent or fluctuating symptoms following a COVID-19 infection.

Our clinic was established in response to the growing need for coordinated, evidence-based care for Long COVID in the community. We work closely with patients and their GPs to understand how symptoms affect daily life and to develop personalised management plans that evolve over time.

We recognise that Long COVID is complex and can impact physical health, cognition, emotional wellbeing, and quality of life. Our approach is patient-centred, multidisciplinary, and grounded in current clinical knowledge.

The clinic operates across Newcomb and Torquay in partnership with Banksia Medical Centre.

At Geelong Long COVID Clinic, we offer:

Evidence-Based Care

Our approach is guided by current clinical knowledge and best practice in the management of Long COVID.

Coordinated Care

We coordinate care across medical and allied health services when needed, helping reduce fragmentation.

Team-Based Approach

Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team working together around your needs.

COVID-19 Symptom Tracking

Symptom monitoring tools may be used to help understand patterns, triggers, and progress over time.

Working With Your GP

We collaborate closely with your GP to support continuity of care before, during, and after clinic involvement.

Holistic Care

We consider physical, cognitive, emotional, and functional aspects of health in our care planning.

Our Care Pathway

Our services are delivered through a structured care pathway, beginning with comprehensive assessment and followed by targeted investigations, coordinated referrals, and ongoing review to support long-term management of Long COVID.

Comprehensive Initial Assessment

Your first appointment includes a detailed consultation with one of our Long COVID GPs. This appointment focuses on understanding your symptoms, medical history, and how Long COVID is affecting your daily life.

Depending on your presentation, further investigations may be arranged to support assessment and management.

Investigations may include

Chest X-ray (CXR)
To assess lung structure when clinically indicated.

Electrocardiogram (ECG)
To evaluate heart rhythm and related symptoms.

Blood Tests
To help identify contributing factors or rule out other conditions.

Lung Function Testing
To assess respiratory function where appropriate.

Further Evaluation & Referral

Where appropriate, we may recommend further evaluation or referral to relevant specialists or public hospital-based Long COVID clinics to support ongoing care.

Follow-Up Care

Follow-up appointments are used to review progress, adjust management plans, and address evolving symptoms. Telehealth follow-up may be available after an initial face-to-face consultation, where clinically appropriate.

Common Questions About Our Services

1. Do you provide treatment or a cure for Long COVID?

We provide assessment and ongoing management to support recovery and function. At present, there is no single cure for Long COVID.

2. Will I need investigations or tests?

Investigations may be recommended where clinically appropriate, based on individual symptoms and assessment findings.

3. Do you work with my GP?

Yes. In fact, we see your GP – your ‘Family Doctor’, your ‘Family Physician’ – as central to your care.

Your GP remains an important part of your care. They know your health history, your usual supports, and the bigger picture of your life and wellbeing. Our role is not to replace that relationship, but to add extra time, focus, and Long COVID-specific experience when things feel complex, uncertain, or hard to manage.

At the Geelong Long COVID Clinic, we can help by taking a careful look at your symptoms, how they are affecting your day-to-day life, and what might be getting in the way of recovery. We then share our findings and recommendations with your GP so they can continue supporting you with clearer information and a practical plan.

This may include suggestions about investigations, symptom management, pacing, referrals, allied health support, or longer-term care planning. For some people, it may also mean helping to connect the dots between fatigue, brain fog, breathlessness, sleep disruption, dizziness, pain, mood changes, or flare-ups after activity.

We know many people with Long COVID have had to explain their symptoms again and again. Our aim is to listen carefully, take your experience seriously, and work respectfully with the GP who already knows you — so you feel less alone and more supported in your care.
